Violinist and composer Briana Di Mara celebrates the release of her debut album, Haven, with a special concert of unique interpretations of the compositions from the album, as well as newly composed originals and beloved traditional favorites.
Briana is influenced by world music from many different countries, including the Balkans, the Middle East and Ireland. Her eclectic style on the violin lends itself beautifully to the intricate melodies and soulful improvisations in her performances and recordings. She is joined by stellar musicians Gari Hegedus (oud), Joshua Mellinger (percussion), and Sascha Jacobsen (bass), as well as dancer Natalie Nayun and other surprise special guest artists.
Opening the night is the Oakland School for the Arts vocal music department's own a cappella superstars, REM.
